The Role of Parents in Educating Their Children

January 29th, 2012

While there is currently great interest spurred by the media on early childhood education, we still don’t have enough resources. That’s why it’s very important for parents, educator and caregivers as well as artists to share what they know with the rest of the world. We have to encourage children to explore on their own but at the same time, they also need response from adults. We have to listen to what they have to say about their ideas and plans. The challenge is for educators to come up with a curriculum that matches the needs of individual children. The truth is this nearly impossible. We just don’t have the resources to give each child training that’s appropriate for their level. They are all different. That’s why parents’ participation is required. Teaching your children is your responsibility as a parent. Even giving them coloring pages can have good results. Teaching your kids won’t really take a lot of your time.

Understanding Welding Electrodes and Other Things You Need to Know About

January 17th, 2012

Welding Videos to Watch this Weekend - Welding Resources and TipsWelding is the process of fabricating and sculpturing. It can be done to metals and thermoplastics. It is done by melting the metal or thermoplastic pieces and joining each of them using a filler material. The filler is a molten material that serves as the joiner when cooled down. Welding is done using heat and pressure. To do this, the welders will need special equipment and machines as well as consumable supplies like welding electrodes or rods. The welding rods and wires are usually offered for affordable prices so welding is generally not an expensive procedure. However, welders need to invest for protective gears like a Welding mask, gloves and suit.

In general, the welding electrodes play an important role. There are also many different types of welding electrodes. The most popular ones are the metal core, flux core and solid core. Their availability is not a problem but the kind of welding electrode to be used is highly dependent on the kind of metal that needs to be welded. To know what kind of welding electrode is most appropriate, the welder needs to know the chemical compositions, mechanical properties and microstructure of the metals. For steel, the flux core is the most commonly used and is usually partnered with gas metal arc. Another factor to be considered when choosing the welding electrode is the way the metals were processed. You may have noticed that there are a lot of considerations necessary for just choosing the electrode so thinking to weld something at home as a DIY project is strongly discouraged. It is best to leave it to professionals if you want to ensure quality, durability, and longevity. If you do still choose to start a welding project, then you have to spend a lot of your time studying electrodes. You need to study the size and numbering system of electrodes as well as understand the applications of each type of electrode. Nonetheless, choosing electrodes for a certain application should not be a problem as the ones sold in local and online welding supply shops have labels and codes.

In addition, the process of welding is more complex and does not end in choosing the right electrode. The welder also needs to ensure that the electrode, filler, and metal base complement each other. The electrode should not have the exact chemical composition of the metal. Otherwise, corrosion or rust may form. As a rule, the welding electrode should have .02 to .04 percent less carbon than that of the metal but the metal should have more carbon to compensate the electrode lack for the said gas. In addition, the welding electrode should also have sufficient tensile. It should also have a high impact resistance. Welders need to master overmatching, which easily varies when another metal is added to the project being weld.

Welding electrodes may be two simple words but they play a great part in many welding projects that are part of many houses, commercial buildings, cars and trucks, ships, airplanes and even spacecrafts. They may be very affordable but they are the reason for many expensive things that you can find around you.

Keep Calm and Eat Chocolate when Depressed

December 13th, 2011

When it comes to dealing with problems that cannot be solved, we can always turn to the British motivational poster that said keep calm and carry on. The motivational poster basically sums up the British way of living and has become widely popular ever since it was rediscovered back in 2000. Today, there are tons of variations based on the original slogan presented by the keep calm and carry on poster. One of which is the Keep calm and eat chocolate photo canvas done by Photo in Canvas. The photo canvas is pretty much like the original keep calm and carry on poster, but is more directed towards the chocolate lovers. The photo canvas is perfect for those who are fond of eating sweets or chocolates during times of difficulties. The canvas also goes well as a piece of wall art in chocolate shops or even coffee shops that serve chocolates and chocolate cakes.

Not Everyone Knows How to Make Jewelry Well

November 23rd, 2011

To many people it might seem like an easy project. If a person was asked how to make jewelry they would probably have a few ideas. If they are asked how to make good jewelry that people will be willing to pay money for, people might not be so quick to provide answers. The craft jewelry that people used to make at camp with kids was great to give to parents who appreciate anything that their kids make, but if a person is looking to make jewelry that they can sell, they will have to learn a little bit more about the craft. There are always arts and craft shows that allow people to sell the things they make. If a person can put together high quality jewelry they will be able to use a table at these shows to sell their wares. The key is to be creative. A person needs to offer jewelry that is unique or different. That will be what their customers at the craft shows will want.

How to Cornrow or Canerow?

September 22nd, 2011

Once you have learnt how to conrow your hair then it is easy to conrow hairs at home. Here are few tips on how to conrow your hairs. At first, get some thick yarn pieces or a 3 corner cloth that could be easily used for linking together. Now tie all these three corners of a cloth together as a knot. Now you have to spread these corners between your index and center fingers. In this way, you would have two corners in one hand while third corner definitely in the second hand. Next step is to choose the combination of these corners which is quite suitable for you. The next step is to take the first strand then take it into the middle of other strands. Now you have to start crossing the right in middle of other two strands and left strand from the middle of other two strands. After completing this all, tie the conrow or canerow by a barrette.

My Craft is Made out of Bamboo Sticks

August 15th, 2011

I really do like it when I get into the spirit of making arts and crafts from different kinds of materials. I have so many different kinds of crafts made from so many different kinds of materials. I specifically have one amazing craft that I made that is made out of bamboo sticks. I put the sticks together to form a little nice looking hut. The hut is quite a sight to see and has amazed a lot of my arts and crafts students when I bought it to the class to show my students. I just love this amazing work of art that I have created and know that it will probably one of my favorite crafts of all time. I think I might make something bigger than this out of the same kind o bamboo sticks that I created the bamboo hut out of. I will wait and find out for myself.

A Favorite Hobby

August 13th, 2011

When I have a day off from work I loved to sit at home and read sewing machine reviews. For some people it might sound weird but for those who know me it’s just a part of my every day life. I love to sew clothes in my spare time and whenever the opportunity presents itself I am ready to take on a challenge and start sewing all different kind of clothes. Recently my sewing machine had broken down while I was using it. I had been really sad, because it was one of my favorite hobbies. I quickly went online and started reading and trying to figure out which sewing machine I should invest in. I found the one that had gotten the best reviews and when it was delivered at my house just a few days after ordering it I could now start doing what I loved doing the most.

A die cut machine and printer in one – that’s what the Cricut Imagine machine is! No computer is necessary for its operation. Instead, it uses cartridges to access artwork for printing digital paper and making die cuts. It accepts paper up to 12″ x 12″ in size, and prints and cuts up to 11-1/2″ x 11-1/2″.

Not only will it make patterned paper, but it also will make card stock in any color. The interface on the machine includes eighteen pre-defined colors. To select additional colors, a color wheel is included, as well as an area to manually input RGB codes.

The Imagine is compatible with many of the other items used in Cricut’s older die cut machine models. It can be used with the Gypsy, a handheld design studio device that allows users to design projects anywhere. In addition, it can be used with the Jukebox, which allows users to access content on multiple cartridges at once.

Symbolic Colors of a Lantern

September 11th, 2010

Lantern designs vary from culture to culture. Its designs depend mainly on the religion and traditions dominant in that region. In China, it usually has red and gold colors. Color red stands for happiness while gold represents good fortune. During the Chinese Festival, these colors are dominant and noticeable in the celebration. In the Philippines, the color of their “parol” is dominated by red, green and yellow. Red and green are the symbolic colors of Christmas. This tradition is influenced by the Westerners way back from the colonization of the country. Yellow, on other hand, is the color of the star of Bethlehem which guided the Magi in their quest of seeking Jesus. The color of the Jack-O’-lantern is usually orange since it is a carved pumpkin by tradition. The Irish people used Pumpkin when they immigrated in America and found out that Pumpkins are easier to carve. The yellow color is the flame that the Devil gave Stingy Jack for his wandering on Earth for eternity.
